I'd actually rinse it with very hot water, as, if there is still detergent residue, it could be a problem with either being corrosion or hygroscopic; This is more difficult than it sounds, because it won't come out from underneath the chips on the circuit board.

The longer you wait, the less likely your fob will survive its brush with. Dismantel the key fob and remove the battery inside. Remove the battery, if possible.
